What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy uses a tiny laser to accurately remove areas of infection and gum disease around the teeth. The laser minimizes the risk of bleeding and infection by immediately sterilizing the affected area and sealing off any blood vessels. A number of other benefits exist from the use of laser therapy, including: decreased sensitivity, preserving tooth enamel, faster healing, less time spent during the procedure, reduced necessity for anesthetic, and more.

Procedures Performed with Laser Therapy

  • Surgical: The laser acts as a precision cutting instrument or a tissue vaporizer
  • Gum Disease: Allows for quick and comfortable healing by mitigating the need for scalpels and stitching.
  • Tooth Decay: Used to cure or harden a filling, and to remove any decay within the teeth
  • Teeth Whitening: Enhances or triggers the effect of tooth whitening agents, and helps to lift stains and discoloration
  • Cosmetics: Accurately corrects any crooked or uneven gum lines, and shortens or lengthens the gum line in relation to the lips to create a picture perfect smile.

Biopsy / Lesion Removal: Removing a small piece of tissue with a laser for examination is called a biopsy, and is an effective way to search for cancer. This procedure can also be used to relieve canker sores or remove any lesions in the mouth.
